What's the difference between a brand mention and a link citation?
A mention is your name appearing in an AI's answer; a citation is your website linked as the answer's source. Citations are rarer, harder to earn, and more valuable: they carry traffic, and they signal the engine trusts your site enough to stake its answer on it. We track both, separately.
Can my site get cited by AI without ranking on Google?
It happens, especially through engines with their own retrieval systems, but it's swimming upstream. Retrieval-based engines favor the same qualities Google does, and Google's own AI Overviews draw heavily from pages that rank. In practice, search strength and citation strength rise together, which is why we build them as one program.
How long does it take to earn a first citation?
